General Introduction to the Working Principle of Slag Dryer

The mineral slags are firstly delivered into the hopper through the belt conveyor or bucket elevator, then enter into the feed end through the feeding pipe. The inclination of feeding pipe should be a little larger than that of raw material, so raw material can easily enter into the rotary drum of slag dryer. The rotary drum of slag dryer should be a little inclined to the horizontal line. To get counter-current contact, raw materials enter into the drum from higher end and heat carriers enter into the drum from the lower end. Of course, the phenomenon of homodromous flow is allowed.

Along with the drum rotation, raw materials naturally move into the lower end under the gravity effect. During the moving process, raw materials are changed from wet to dry under the influence of heat exchange, finally discharged out at the discharging end through the belt conveyor or spiral conveyor. There are several lifting boards that are installed in the inner wall of rotary drum, which are used to widen the contacting area between raw material and hot air, improve the drying speed of slag dryer and stimulate the movement of raw material.

Cyclone dust collector plays the role of collecting materials, which are brought away by the heating mediums. Heating mediums are generally classified into hot air and flue gas.
